Volunteering Information

Our Organization is a non-profit, volunteer organization that needs everyone's help to be successful. We need your help in order to make our league effective.

Open Board Positions: Board Positions require attending approximately 8 monthly Board meeting per year, held the 3rd Tuesday of each month at the Red Rose Inn. Experience is not required for any position. Background checks are required for most positions.

• Division 5 Director Ages 5 & 6: Oversee division 5, scheduling, communicating with coaches.
• Director of Safety: Someone with medical experience to train coaches and establish league safety guidelines

Non-Board Positions

• Head Coaches: manage a flag football team, schedule practices and Div. 1 & 2 also attend player drafts.
• Assistant Coaches: Assist head coach, take over as head coach in his absence.
• Field Maintenance: Help line games fields one or two days per season. Fields are usually lined the Saturday afternoon before the game. Lining requires approximately 30 mins.

Background Checks

All volunteers that are in direct contact with our youth players shall have a background check completed. This background check will need to be completed once.

Avon Grove Flag Football Inc. is a volunteer driven non-profit organization. One of Avon Grove Flag Football’s Inc. objectives is to promote proper safeguards for its members and volunteers. If you have expressed an interest in becoming a volunteer of Avon Grove Flag Football Inc.on a voluntary basis you are REQUIRED to complete a back grounfd check permission form. Consistent with promoting a wholesome and safe environment, Avon Grove Flag Football Inc. will perform criminal background and/or motor vehicle record (or “driving record”) checks on you pursuant to your written instructions. Accordingly, Avon Grove Flag Football Inc. may obtain reports on your criminal background and/or driving history from a “consumer reporting agency” called Comprehensive Information Services, Inc. (CIS), dba VolunteerCheck, P.O. Box 79007, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15216, compliance@cisonline.com, (866) 886-6520. CIS’s report may include information gathered from county, federal and/or statewide record searches, as guided by personal identifier information obtained through a Social Security Number trace. Please note that by completing and signing the back ground check permission form, you are authorizing and instructing Avon Grove Flag Football Inc. to immediately obtain criminal background and driving record reports from a third party (utilizing a Social Security Number trace) as Avon Grove Flag Football Inc. deems necessary and appropriate. Moreover, you are allowing and instructing Avon Grove Flag Football Inc. to obtain those reports from a third party on an ongoing basis without any additional notice for as long as you are a volunteer member of the Avon Grove Flag Football Inc.

Procedures to coaches and assist coaches:

• All volunteers are required to completed a Background Check Permission Form.
• Divisional Director will be responsible for assuring all coaches and assistant coaches have completed the form
• This form is to be collected by the Division Director prior to first practice.
• Divisional Director shall hand deliver completed forms to league President

Screening Criteria:

Any felony or misdemeanor convictions of the below charges will result in a Failure. Also, any misdemeanor convictions that have occurred while the applicant is or was on probation will result in “not eligible status” or Failure.

For the last seven years the following will include (based on national average):

• Any Convictions of Violence (misdemeanor conviction or felony arrest)
• Multiple Drug Possession Charges
• Drug Sales/Distribution/Manufacturing
• Kidnapping
• Stalking
• Weapons Violations
• Driving While Under The Influence, Intoxicated, or While Impaired (report three year scope)
