Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Will tryouts be required?
    >>> No, tryouts are not required. The Avon Grove Flag Football (AGFF) League is a developmental league, stressing fundamental skills development over win/loss records through Division 3; however, competition is naturally a stronger component in the older Divisions  (1 and 2).

  2. How are league ages determined?
    >>> League age is determined by the players age on September 1, 2019.

  3. Can the player choose what team he/she will play on?
    >>> Only siblings and coaches sons/daughters can be on the same team. All other players will be drafted. You maybe request a certain team or coach in the comment section when you register, their is no guarantee of placement.

  4. What equipment is required?
    >>> Players are supplied with a NFL team jersey, flag belt and a mouth piece. Cleats are optional, but recommended. Note - cleats may not be metal.

  5. Do the players keep the official NFL jersey?
    >>> Yes, the players keep their jersey!

  6. When will the season start and end?
    >>> Spring season will start the early April depending on weather, practices usually start within two weeks of draft (late March). The season usually ends around early June. Fall season will start during the beginning of September and will run until the beginning of November. Practices will start at the end of August for the fall season.

  7. How often will the players meet?
    >>> In Divisions 5 and 4, players will usually meet once a week for practice and play one game per week. Division 3 teams may meet twice per week, as determined by the coach and Divisions 2, 1 and Seniors attempt two practices per week. Practices are scheduled by the team coach and may be any weekday or weekend, games will be played on Sunday afternoons.

  8. How long do practices take?
    >>> We encourage coaches to practice for approximately 60 minutes. Games are two 25 minute halves and are typically completed within one hour.

  9. Where will the games and practices be held?
    >>> All games will be played at Crossan Park on Sunday afternoons in the fall and spring seasons. Practice locations are at approved locations by the AGFF. All practice locations within the Avon Grove School District Area.  Practice times and locations are up to each team.

  10. Are there any games on holiday weekends?
    >>> No. Enjoy the holiday!

  11. How are the teams formed?
    >>> Teams will be drafted between 1 week weeks prior to the start of the season by the head coach, from a list of all registrants. The coach will then contact parents within 48 hours of the completed draft with team and practice details.

  12. Are refunds available?
    >>> No, refunds are not given, unless prior arrangements are made. Insurance and charter fees have to be paid directly after registration. Insurance companies or the NFL do not give refunds to the local leagues. You may however make arrangements during or prior to registration of special circumstances.

  15. Are any scholarship monies available for families who might struggle with enrollment fee obligations?
    >>> Players will never be turned away from playing AG NFL Flag Football. You must fill out a discount application. This must be completed ASAP, limited funds are available and are distributed as approved on a first come first serve basic. Email  to request an application.
